Philip Phillips is an operatic bass and a professor of theoretical physics at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. He has been studying voice with a few different teachers, most recently Kenneth Overton since 2022. In the summer of 2015, he played the role of Chato in La Purpura de la Rosa. He made his debut with the Lyric Theatre of UIUC as Commendatore in Don Giovanni in the spring of 2018.  He also played Alcindoro  (La Boheme) in the Fall of 2018 at Lyric/UIUC.  His latest performance was a second more contemporary rendition of La BoheÌ€me playing Colline with the Bay View Music Festival in July 2022.
